While we were hard at work on various projects for TreeHugger.com and the soon-to-be-launched Planet Green channel, Big City was tasked with translating TreeHugger’s signature graphical look to the television screen in the form of animated in-program-messages.
After a brief round of development platforming on creative done for the TreeHugger Gift Guide spots, we arrived at the clean gadget styling of the snipe. The branches of the TreeHugger tree logo emerge from z-space spinning onto screen. As the branches settle into place, the trunk of the tree descends planting itself in the bottom horizontal line that writes the rectangle with rounded-corners up around the tree to complete the logo. This icon is the base from which the rest of the panel unfolds both to the left and the the right. The brand mark “TreeHugger” writes on and off for a split second wrapping itself around the glossy, contoured panel. Rather than being a splashy banner ad, the animation has the feeling of a glossy, virtual tool or control panel folding onto the screen to provide valuable navigation information for the viewer.

In this version, the Holiday Gift Guide red bow writes on, transforming the square with curved corners into a gift box.
