Big City shot an interview with Isabel Toledo and her artist/illustrator husband at the opening of their joint exhibition at Barneys New York.

The wife of President Barack Obama has won notoriety for her fashion style, and the color of the Toledo dress, a muted yellow “lemongrass,” sets it apart from most first ladies who largely wore red and blue at inaugurations. Says Toledo:

You don’t have to be a big corporation in America. Here I am. It’s the American dream.

That’s a sentiment Isabel Toledo and artist/illustrator husband Rueben Toledo expressed at the opening of their joint exhibition at Barneys New York during an interview for the Big City Pictures-produced show Styleyes in in 2005  long before the Obama inaugural phenom took place.
