Retrofit Films is known for its innovative work developing and producing new media for networks and studios that are looking beyond conventional marketing and promotion strategies to capitalize on the power of social and online media. With the advent of new media and the evolution of branded entertainment, Retrofit Films has developed a niche as “go-to” digital showrunners of fresh, cutting-edge content for high-profile, successful projects. Retrofit Films has just completed a new webseries for the NBC show HEROES called “Slow Burn” as cross promotion for Sprint, as well as a webseries for the CW’s The Vampire Diaries entitled “A Darker Truth.” This last spring they completed another webseries HEROES called “Nowhere Man” as well as a broadcast and web branded series for The CW Network entitled “Dove Go Fresh Presents GOSSIP GIRL: Real NYC Stories Revealed.”

Other recent highlights include “Conspiracy Theory,” a webseries for NBC’s MY OWN WORST ENEMY (Bronze Telly Award Winner) and two more original webseries for HEROES: “The Recruit” (winner of two 2008 Webby People’s Voice Awards and a Silver Telly Award) and “Going Postal,” the latter series helping Retrofit break new ground as one of the first WGA, SAG and DGA-compliant webseries following the 2007 Writers’ Strike. Also in 2008, Retrofit Films produced, wrote and directed the hugely popular animated webseries, “Kara & The Chronicles of Krypton” for the CW’s long-running SMALLVILLE. In 2007, Retrofit Films helped create the successful international advertising campaign for adidas and their NBA All-Stars where they produced a unique integration of storylines and flash games (gamisodes) for online and mobile phone platforms.

Chris Hanada and Tanner Kling, the two founders of Retrofit Films, came together in 2004 with a mandate to push the boundaries of web-based filmmaking in the fast-changing world of digital and new media. Since then they have been at the forefront of writing, directing and producing a wide array of award-winning entertainment and promotional campaigns.

In addition to actively developing original web content for various studios and networks, Hanada and Kling have acquired the rights to develop features and television series, the next step in the evolution of Retrofit Films.
