  • Smithsonian’s America

A comprehensive and beautiful CD-ROM based on an exhibition mounted at the “American Festival,” Japan, 1994, using the Smithsonian’s collections to capture the essence of America, from objects of daily life to prized items like George Washington’s sword and Sitting Bull’s carbine. At the end of each narrated sequence, the user can choose to view various archival items, including photographs of artifacts and film clips which Big City produced and edited. From paper-print films produced by Thomas Edison Film Co. to civil rights era news footage, over fifty modules were created to profile people and events in American history such as the achievements of Amelia Earhart and the struggles of Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers.
