Segments produced for the Warners-syndicated, urban fashion show ‘N Gear; since one of his fortes is capturing conversational moments, George Spyros interviewed rapper Jay-Z while playing chess on break from the recording studio. The results are both comical and informative.

On location in Mexico City, producer George Spyros covered AOL Mexico’s gala launch party interviewing celebrities and editing B-roll packages with rapid turn-around for satellite up-links. George Spyros served as the DGA director and a cameraman on this 12-minute documentary about the New York Latino music scene produced for KCET and broadcast on PBS in conjunction with the national premiere of Buena Vista Social Club.

At age twenty-one, George Spyros’s first professional job came editing master documentarian Emile de Antonio’s Mr. Hoover and I about J. Edgar Hoover’s plans to inter political dissidents in concentration camps. When de Antonio died on the eve of the 1990 Sundance Film Festival, Spyros was drafted to represent the film.

He’s been doing this for a while now, always evolving with technology and audiences.

Written and directed by George Spyros, this independent feature received a New York State Council on the Arts grant as well as the Screen Actors Guild Best Actress Award at the 1999 American Film Institute Film Festival. In the same year, Spyros received the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship for the film.

George Spyros’s feature film Last Days of May was awarded a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). The funds will go to complete the post-production of the film.
