The Creative on Yo La Tengo’s Blue Line Swinger Music Video
The art work of Robert Rauschenberg loosely inspired the song, so the band suggested incorporating the feeling of the artist’s work into the video. So we shot through a number of found objects like an old silk screen and a stove pipe. Also, a vintage electronics magazine supplied the raw materials for the collage being made and set on fire. Artist Sandra Spannan who appears in the video pastes these ripped images as well as xerox copies of band-member photos onto a wall collage. Shot on 16mm film as well as Super-8 black & white and Super-8 color film stocks. Posted entirely on the Avid Media Composer.
